The Best Things In Sydney Are Free

Just recently, I was able to finish and input my daily writings of my travels in Australia and New Zealand in my little little travel book. Now I want to catch up on my posts as soon as possible before I forget little details that meant so much to me at the time.. and before I start a new adventure! We are putting all our videos from this trip into one video so that we can share this amazing experience with you guys! We want you to follow us as we immersed ourselves in these two countries.. but most of all.. we really want to take you inside our Jucy Camper Van so you guys can witness what an amazing struggle that was.. haha! I’ll be uploading a mini clip/teaser of it on Instagram shortly!

After extending our time in Melbourne to two weeks, we were running out of time and booked a flight to Sydney last minute. Flying into Sydney is breathtaking because you get a bird’s eye view of the city, Sydney Harbour Bridge, and the Opera House. Unfortunately, it was down pouring and we ended up staying in Sydney longer than planned because we got stuck in their worst storm in the last 10 years. Since we stayed longer, this meant we were able to do more sight seeing and explore the city’s alleyways. And we also mastered their transit system so if anyone is going to Sydney and need information on their bus/subway routes.. feel free to ask us!

I saw a picture on Pinterest one time of bird cages hanging in an alley way and found out it was in Sydney. Before I left Calgary, I tried to google the address of this spot but could not find it anywhere so I gave up. Then one gloomy day, Paige and I were walking from the Harbour Bridge into the city (because we didn’t want to pay for a cab) and of course we got lost for hours.. but we decided to keep walking (because we insisted on saving money) and then found this alleyway with restaurants so we decided to walk down it to grab food. We turned the corner and found ourselves under these bird cages! We were so shocked we ended up there without intention!

Another highlight was our visit to Bondi Beach. Though it was not the same after the storm, it was as beautiful as I had imagined it to be. Two subways and two wrong buses later, we made it and decided to do the Bondi to Coogee walk. It was so relaxing and peaceful and we were blessed enough to catch the sunset!

Exploring the Corners of Melbourne

Melbourne is a city full of life, art, local coffee shops, famous bars, boutique shops, and fashion. I was overwhelmed with the city’s diversity and culture, that I extended my stay in Melbourne to two weeks instead of one. I feel so blessed to have been able to spend my 23rd birthday in this bustling city with such an amazing group of friends that I will cherish and continue to keep in touch with. They were the ones who made my stay in Melbourne so memorable. From spending mornings walking the boardwalk in St. Kilda, to drinking Asahi beer in Southbank Melbourne, driving down The Great Ocean Road, jet/water skiing Lake Eildon, eating cheap Chinese food in Box Hill, and bar hopping Chapel Street… it was a perfect start to my journey through Australia!
